Four New Elders for Kilfennan... Just before Christmas 2009, we at Kilfennan Presbyterian began the process of seeking and electing four new elders for our church.  We have just recently completed this process and are delighted to announce that our four new elders will be Mrs Ruth Dale, Mr John McNeilly, Mr John Loughery and Mrs Esther Scobie.  We are confident that God has guided us in choosing four very able and steadfast leaders for our congregation.  We offer them our full support and prayers for their future service.
Call to William Montgomery... We are delighted to hear of the call from the Board of Mission in Ireland to William Montgomery, our former assistant, to be the Minister of the Congregations of Fermoy and Cahir, which are in the counties of East Cork and Tipperary.  His service of Ordination and Installation will be held on Saturday 20th March.  We pray for God's blessing on William and Sharon in this calling and new direction in their lives.  (William & Sharon will pay a return visit to Kilfennan on Sunday 7th March)
Congratulations to BB Junior Section... 4th Londonderry Boy's Brigade recently enjoyed the success of three of their Junior Section.  Each year set Bible passages are studied.  In January the Junior Section boys are given a written exam to test their knowledge. The boys with the top scores are then asked to represent our 4th Londonderry company at the January Junior Section Battalion Bible Quiz.
This year the boys in the Kilfennan team were Matthew Austin, Daniel Kane & Thomas Malcolm.  The competition was held at Kilfennan Church on Sunday 31st January.  There were 10 teams taking part.  Boys were allowed to confer when the questions were asked and then one of them wrote down what they thought was the correct answer. When scores were added our team had 98 points out of 100.  This put them in second place narrowly beaten by the Ballykelly team with 99 marks.  This was a first-class attainment which Kilfennan Presbyterian is very proud of - Well Done Boys!!

Farewell to Robert Orr... On Sunday 3rd January we said farewell to our Assistant Minister, Mr Robert Orr, who has been with us in Kilfennan for 21/2 years.  Robert has been called to the congregations of 1st Castlederg and Killeter in Co. Tyrone.

Robert preached his final sermon as Assistant during the morning service and in the evening a Farewell Service was held so that everyone had a chance to say goodbye to the Orr family.  During the service Rev. Rob Craig, Mr. Albert Buchanan and Mrs May McCloskey described their impressions of and their time spent with the Orrs and paid much-deserved tributes to Robert and his family.  A few jokes were shared, as well as a few tears shed.  Presentations were also made at this time to Robert, Alison, William and Gareth.  Robert and Alison thanked the congregation for their gifts and spoke very fondly of their time spent at Kilfennan.

We at Kilfennan will greatly miss the Orr family, but thank them for all they have been to us during their time here and wish them all God’s blessings in their future work and life.

The Orr Family; William, Alison, Robert & Gareth The Orr Family with Mrs M McCloskey and Rev. and Mrs Craig Alison and Robert Orr with Mrs May McCloskey, Clerk of Session
